Clearstream, the established provider of settlement and custody services, is part of the exchange organization Deutsche Börse Group. It offers comprehensive services for both domestic and internationally traded bonds, equities and investment funds.
Serving 2,500 customers in more than 100 countries, it maintains a leading position in the international fixed income market, with over €10 trillion in assets under custody.
Clearstream’s quality services are reflected in the positive feedback received from its customers. In the 2008 “Agent Banks in Major Markets” survey, conducted by Global Custodian magazine, Clearstream was classified for the fifth consecutive year as a top rated ICSD.
In April 2008, Clearstream - through its German central securities depository, Clearstream Banking Frankfurt - was one of the seven founding CSDs of Link Up Markets, the first true pan-European cross-border settlement solution, in central bank money, which went live on the past 30 March 2009. This will strengthen even more Clearstream’s robust service offer through CSD links, which it started to make effective in 1985 and now enables it to settle cross-border transactions via CSD links between Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland and the US. With Link Up Markets, that offer will also be extended to Cyprus, Denmark, Greece and Norway.
While proving the value of interoperability, this service model enables Clearstream’s clients to benefit from simplicity, large market reach, significant cost savings and reduced risk, besides the access to Clearstream’s liquidity hub and, as a result, to most efficient collateral and asset management tools.
Headquartered in Luxembourg, with operations in Luxembourg, Frankfurt and Prague, Clearstream also has offices in Dubai, Hong Kong, London, New York, Singapore and Tokyo.
