Since its establishment in 1993, KELER (Central Clearing House and Depository) Ltd. has performed the divergent tasks of the central background institution of the Hungarian capital market, as a private joint-stock company. In accordance with the requirements of the players of the securities market, KELER has endeavored to provide complex services to our participants since our establishment.
KELER provides wide range of professional services to the participants of the Hungarian financial market. Thanks to the innovative approach, the product and IT developments provided in the last 15 years, KELER has become an outstanding post trade infrastructure in the Central-East European Region: it provides clearing and settlement services to the Budapest Stock Exchange (Exchange) and the OTC market, operates as the National and Central Securities Depository and as a specialized financial institution. Additionally, in competition with other market players KELER provides cross-border settlement and custody services (both for local and foreign investors) and also provides registry and paying agent services for several issuers.
The central counter party services guaranteed earlier by the KELER Ltd. are provided by the recently founded KELER Central Counterparty Ltd. from the 1st of January 2009. The company acts as central counter party and guarantees financial settlement on the cash and derivative markets of the Exchange, under KELER’s suretyship.
